Board of Trustees
Brentwood Christian School has a Board of Trustees that is varied in background, but united in purpose: to see that the children who come through BCS are taught and guided by a worldview that places Christ at the center. Each board member is deeply committed to that ideal and gives liberally of time in serving the school and helping to accomplish that mission. The following is some personal information about the people who strive to help guide BCS in the way of the Lord:
2011 BOARD MEMBERS
JAY BURCHAM (BOARD CHAIR)
Jay Burcham is the president and co-founder of Provenio Group/Leaps. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical psychology from Abilene Christian University and completed doctoral work in clinical/neurological psychology at Stanford-Saybrook Institute. Jay is a member of the Westside Church of Christ and has served on the board since 2004. He is married to Sylvia, a BCS elementary teacher, and they have three BCS elementary students.
BRIAN JACKSON (OPERATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR)
Brian is a Senior Shareholder with Davis, Fuller, Jackson, and Keene, Attorneys and Counselors at Law. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Abilene Christian University and received his J.D. degree from the University of Houston’s School of Law. A member of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, Brian has served on the board since 2007. He is married to Kristi and they are the parents of two BCS elementary students and a Children’s Ark student.
FRED STRIETELMEIER (DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR)
Fred Strietelmeier is an electrical engineer retired from IBM. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He also received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Rice University. Fred is a member of the Westside Church of Christ and has served on the board since 1996. He is married to Sondra, a BCS fine arts teacher, and they are the parents of a BCS graduate.
MARK HAGER (FINANCE COMMITTEE CHAIR)
Mark Hager is the executive vice president & chief financial officer for Campus Advantage, Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration-accounting from Abilene Christian University and is a certified public accountant. Mark is a member of the Westover Hills Church of Christ and has served on the board since 2007. He is married to Tere, secondary librarian, and they are the parents of a BCS elementary student and two BCS secondary school students.
ROYCE CLARK
Royce Clark is a Senior Manager with Dell, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma Christian University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas. Royce is a member of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and has served on the board since 2002. He is married to Jennifer, and they are the parents of two BCS secondary students and a Children’s Ark preschool student.
CHERYL BILLANTE
Dr. Cheryl Billante is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology for Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, working out of her home in Austin. Cheryl has a bachelor’s degree from Harding University and a master’s in speech-language pathology and a doctorate with an emphasis in neurolaryngology from Vanderbilt. She is married to Mark, who has an orthopedic surgery practice, and their son is an elementary student at BCS. They are members at Westover Hills Church of Christ.
GLENN DAVIS
Glenn is the President of Lantana Homes. He attended Abilene Christian University. Glenn is a member at the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and has served on the board since 1999. He is married to Cynthia, who is a BCS elementary teacher, and they are the parents of a BCS graduate and a Developmental Preschool student.
PETE HOWELL
Pete is the owner of DentBusters, Inc. He attended Texas Tech University. A member at the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, he has served on the board since 2008. He is married to Melanie, director of the Children’s Ark Preschool, and they are the parents of a BCS elementary student and a BCS secondary student.
DAVID TAYLOR
David is a Project Manager with Dell, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Texas Tech University. David is a member of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and has served on the board since 2004. He is married to Angela, who is a BCS bookkeeper, and they are the parents of two BCS secondary students.
FLOYD ROGERS
Floyd Rogers received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Abilene Christian University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He retired as CFO of Steck Vaughn Publishers and currently is the Virtual CFO of QuickFlex, Inc. Floyd has served as an elder at the Round Rock Church of Christ and the Oakcrest Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Floyd previously served on the school board from 1977 to 1984, and he and his wife, Linda have served on the Development Advisory Board. He and Linda are members at the Westside Church of Christ. They are the parents of two BCS graduates and have two grandchildren currently enrolled in the school.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. How many board members are there?
The board is comprised of eleven voting members and one advisory non-voting member who is an elder of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. Five board members must be members of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ; the remaining six board members are members of other Church of Christ congregations in the area.
2. How do they become members of the board?
The eleven voting board members are appointed by the Board from a list of nominees submitted to and approved by the elders of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
3. How long do they serve on the board?
All Board members serve two-year terms which may be renewed by a vote of the Board.
4. Are the meetings open to the school community?
Anyone who wishes may attend a board meeting. Anyone wishing to address the board may request a place on the agenda by contacting the chairman in writing at least two weeks in advance of a meeting.
5. Is the President of the School a member of the board?
The president reports directly to the board. Within this capacity the president attends all board meetings and provides input upon request, but the president is not a member of the board.
