Brentwood Christian High School placed 2nd in the Texas Christian Schools Interscholastic Tournament, scoring 396 points to Fort Worth Christians 408. The junior high team placed 4th with 141 points, behind Dallas Christian (186), Northland Christian (177), and Fort Worth Christian (175). The schools one-act play, The Importance of Being Earnest, was named the Grand Champion in this years one-act play contest. Senior Matthew Gardner put on an amazing show with five first-place finishes in five events (Comprehensive Math, Comprehensive Science, Physics, Number Sense, and Team Math). Senior Adam Cammack followed with two first-place finishes in Social Studies and Bible Knowledge and a second-place finish in physics. The Bear Facts newspaper took first place, as it had at the TAPPS 4A tournament. Others receiving first-place awards in high school were Honney Khang (computer-aided design), Min Shin (Algebra II), Aracely Mora (Spanish Bible reading), and the other members of the Team Math team (Polly Park, Mike Lee, and Daniel Gardner). Also earning points for the team were Zach Strietelmeier (2 debate), Honney Khang (3 art portfolio, 6 photography, 5 on-site drawing), Jennifer Quinn (3 on-site drawing), Charles Kim (3 editorial writing, 4 physics), Lanae Hollingsworth (2 news writing; 3 social studies), Megan Monacelli (3 news writing), Lizzy DuPond (4 feature writing, 4 ready writing, 5 Spanish Bible reading), Gabe Breternitz (3 feature writing; 3 Spanish Bible Reading; 5 humorous interpretation); Diem Ho (5 social studies); Travis Clark (4 geometry); Tipp Umrod (6 geometry); Daniel Gardner (3 Algebra II; 5 calculator; 6 number sense); Anh Tang (6 Algebra II); Polly Park (2 number sense, 3 comprehensive math); Will You (6 calculator); Skylar Haws (3 debate, 3 Bible knowledge); Garrett Burkhart (4 Bible knowledge, 5 English Bible reading); Daniel Pando (6 Spanish Bible reading), Priscilla Glenn (3 original oratory; Josh Porter (4 prose interpretation, 3 dramatic duet acting); Marisol Hernαndez (3 dramatic duet acting). The junior high team was led by 8th grader Aaron Ho, who placed first in number sense, comprehensive math 8, team math, and Algebra I (earning points for the high school team). Also receiving first-place awards in junior high were Erika DuPond (music memory); Nicole Glenn (original oratory); and the other members of the Team Math team (Mike Taylor, Matthew Scarborough, and Co Ho). Also earning points for the junior high team were Nicole Glenn (2 extemporaneous speaking and 5 Bible knowledge); Tyler Clark (2 prose interpretation), Megan Burcham (6 Bible reading); Haley Hutson (4 original oratory and 5 comprehensive math 7); Matthew Scarborough (2 comprehensive math 7), Andrew Armstrong (2 calculator and 2 number sense); Tiara Allen (2 spelling); and Skylar Treut-Shaffer (4 social studies). |
