Because BCS focuses on preparing your students for college, we are committed to helping them set a path for current and future success. We are constantly looking for opportunities to improve our offerings, and one such opportunity is now coming to fruition.
We are excited to announce that this year all juniors and seniors will be able to participate in YouScience. This is an aptitude assessment that measures students’ aptitudes (what they do naturally well) and combines them with their interests (what they love to do), to give them personalized career and education recommendations. Moving forward, all students will participate in aptitude testing in their junior year.
This testing service, as well as result reporting and interpretation, will be provided by BCS without an additional charge. After testing, there will be follow-up discussions regarding interpretation of results. These results will aid each student in the choice process for determining the college that provides the major/career path best suited to their abilities and interests.
One of our own seniors, Martha Hughes, commented on her experience with the process, “I found the aptitude test to be very helpful and the results confirmed that my aptitudes match up with the skills that it takes to be an engineer. I am more confident in my decision to major in engineering.”
Tere Hager, BCS parent and elementary librarian, says “It is a great opportunity to have aptitude testing offered at BCS. If you go have the testing done by a private company it can be quite expensive. Aptitude testing can be helpful for kids who have no idea what they want to pursue in college, as well as students who have many interests, but need to narrow their interests. In our case, our son had an idea of his major and future occupation and the aptitude testing confirmed that his plans were in keeping with his strengths. It was great to have that confirmation and I think it really built up his confidence as a student knowing that he was on the right track.”
We look forward to many more positive experiences and are excited to provide this for our students.
