Baseball

On March 2nd our JV Bears played against Jarrell. The boys played hard but ultimately lost with a final score of 13-3.

 

On March 4th our Varsity Bears played twice at the Devine Tournament. The Bears lost the first game 8-7 against San Antonio Christian, then won the second game 9-5 against Hondo.

 

March 5th was the second day of the Devine Tournament. Once again our Varsity Bears played two games. The Bears won the first game 6-1 against Canyon Lake but lost the second game 12-1 against Cornerstone Christian.

 

On March 9th our Varsity Bears played against Round Rock Christian. This was a complete shutout with our Bears winning 20-0! .

 

On March 18th our JV Bears played against Central Texas Christian. The Bears lost with a final score of 13-2  

 

On March 19th our Varsity  Bears played against Nixon-Smiley and won! Coach Doege said, “The boys pulled off the win in the last inning; down by 2 runs in our last at bat but scored 6 runs in the 7th inning to get the win”. The final score was 9-5.

 

On March 19th our JV Bears also played against Nixon-Smiley and won 14-1! After the game Coach Doege had this to say, “The Bears played a complete game today to win their 1st game of the year”.

 

On March 23rd our Varsity Bears played against St. Michael’s. Our Bears lost a tough game in extra innings; played an 8 inning game but just could not pull out the win. The final score in this nail-biting game was 4-3.

 

On March 25th our JV Bears took a turn against St. Michaels. The Bears lost with a final score of 13-1.

 

On March 27th our Varsity Bears played a District doubleheader and won both games with the same amazing shutout score of 10-0!

 

On March 29th our JV Bears played against St. Andrew’s. This was a close and exciting game but the Bears ultimately lost with a final score of 10-8.

 

On April 1st our Varsity Bears played against Hyde Park and won with a final score of 7-1! Great job Bears!

 

On April 6th our Varsity Bears played against St. Mary’s Hall. Our Bears won another shutout game 7-0. Coach Doege said it was a “Great Team win on a very windy night”.

 

Track

On March 30th our Bears and Lady Bears track teams competed at the Cornerstone Christian School Warriors Relays. Coach Washington said, “The boys’ track team had a quick turnaround from Saturday at St. Mike’s to Tuesday at Cornerstone Christian. The boys competed well placing 2nd against some tough competition scoring a total of 156 points. Sophomore, Brecken Lee had a PR in the mile with a time of 4:52. What a great day to be a bear!

 

As for our Lady Bears, the Varsity team took home 4th place overall with a total score of 88 points. Lucy Belcik came in 2nd in the 2 mile, Katie Pittner placed 3rd in 800, Julia Glenn took home 1st in triple jump and 2nd in the long jump, Lyla Kate Jackson placed 3rd in the high jump, and Emily Mulcahy placed 2nd in the 100!

 

Softball

On March 31st our Varsity Lady Bears played against Providence. Aurora Tyson 2/3, double/triple, stolen base,  2 runs scored, McKenna Counts 1/3, double, rbi, and Kiera Black 1/3, double, run scored. The girls played hard but ultimately lost 3-9

 

On April 6th our Varsity Lady Bears played against St. Anthony. The final score was 7-13 marking another rare loss for our girls. Keira Black 3/4, 3 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and Ava Alvarado 2/3. 

 

There are lessons to be learned in every win and every loss these lessons only make us better and stronger. It’s a great day to be a Brentwood Bear!
