Football

With a very difficult district schedule, the BCS Football team ended with a record of 1-2, having lost to Bay Area Christian (35-27) and Cypress Christian (48-0). However, the game that counted most was against Legacy Prep for a chance to earn a spot in the playoffs. Needing to win by 6-points, the Bears’ consistency from the first to the last quarter helped them secure a spot in the playoffs, winning 34-27. The Bears finished their official season with an overall record of 6-5. Friday, November 10th was the first round of playoffs going head-to-head against Boerne Geneva, who they played earlier in the season, falling to the Eagles, 49-43 in overtime. Unfortunately, the clock hit zero and our Bears lost to the Eagles 31-14. Looking back at last year, Bears Football has made tremendous strides in making it into the playoffs and having a winning season!

Middle School:

The 2023 season for middle school tackle and flag football has come to an end, but not without a good fight.

Tackle Football:

Playing hard competition this year, the BCS tackle football team never backed down, whether win or lose. Having learned a lot and enjoying the season, each kid got better every week.

Flag Football:

The Green team advanced to the semi-finals in the playoffs with a wild 7-6 victory. There were several injuries throughout the season, but it made the team unite. The White team was able to upset Hyde Park in the semi-final and advanced all the way to the Championship game this year. The middle school coordinator, Andy Dudney, and the two middle school coaches, Coach Scott and Coach Mark, were instrumental to their success.

Volleyball

What an impressive year it has been for our Lady Bear Volleyball team. We, as a community at Brentwood Christian School, are beyond proud of each student-athletes’ hard-work, time, and dedication these past few months. You can see their excellence on the court as they have collected a record of 37-11-1 and a district record of 7-0. This team set an expectation early on in the season to get back to the state tournament… and wow, have they done it! They won the district game making them district champs two years in a row, won area playoffs, breezed through regional playoffs, and now the challenge of State. On November 9th, our Lady Bears headed to Waco to prepare for the State Tournament. On Friday, November 10th, our Lady Bears won the semi-finals against Bay Area Christian and took on Grace Prep in the Championship game on Saturday, November 11th at 10:00 am. Falling to Grace Prep in four sets, our Lady Bears received second place in State for TAPPS 4A. An amazing season, Lady Bears!!

Middle School:

To close out the season, the 5/6th and 7/8th grade teams participated in the playoffs that started on October 28th.

Overall-

5th/6th grade: there were a total of twenty-six girls who participated in 5th and 6th grade volleyball. The overall practices were in one group that was combined of 4A and 6A players. Each girl worked extremely hard and made excellent progress with passing and overhead serves.

7/8th grade: the 2023 volleyball season was another great one! There were a total of thirty-four 7th and 8th graders who signed-up. The coaches noticed that the more experienced players were able to help those who were new to the sport. Throughout the season, each coach enjoyed seeing all the girls grow in their skills and confidence as volleyball players.

Cross Country

Starting right where they left off last year, our Boys and Girls Cross Country (XC) teams are on fire!

Entering into week nine, the final week of the season, the BCS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams finish out the season in Waco, TX where the state meet is held every year. As a program, both teams finished second overall. Congratulations to all of our runners who put in several hours of practice and time towards a very hard, yet rewarding sport. Another congratulations to our two runners, Harper Counts who placed second and Renne Cooper who finished first in the boy’s division. This season would not have been successful without the help of their seven seniors who always showed strong leadership and showed up everyday with the mindset to get better. Congrats Bears, you have earned it!!

Middle School:

Middle school cross country had a successful year. This season brought times of challenges, but also times of growth. Finishing the season, we had three of our Lady Bears place in the District meet. Reese Smith placed 6th, Darla Harlan placed 7th, and Brenlee Brewer placed 15th. What a great end to the season!!
